SAUNA air is heated by massive hot, porous rocks that emit a constant, long lasting heat and moisture.

The heat energy in a sauna distributes evenly over the body. A SAUNA does not feel hot because body heat is efficiently dissipated by SWEAT in dry air. In a SteamRoom it's not the air, but the water vapor that carries the heat. A SteamRoom may seem hotter than a sauna but, it is actually cooler by at least 75°F.

Your most valuable body asset is SWEAT! As body temperature rises, glands are stimulated to produce a fluid called sweat. The water in sweat is "borrowed" from the blood and flows to the skin surface to be used for cooling. Sweat on the surface of the skin removes excess body heat. In a SAUNA, sweating is easy because most of the skin is exposed to hot, dry air.

But in a SteamRoom, the air is HIGHLY saturated with water and can't accept much more of it. (IN A STEAMROOM, what looks like sweat is just steam condensing on the skin!) In a SteamRoom, YOU DO NOT SWEAT, so there is no sweat to evaporate; thus, body heat rises faster, you feel uncomfortable!

It is incorrectly thought that a SteamRoom is the quickest way to lose weight. You DO NOT lose weight in a SteamRoom because you DO NOT SWEAT! Few, if any calories are lost from the conversion of fat and carbohydrates into sweat energy in a SteamRoom because no sweating occurs!

A SteamRoom DOES NOT purge toxins, condition the skin or help promote heart conditioning!

If your aim is to relax muscles and LOSE WEIGHT, soften the skin, purge toxins, stimulate the heart and nervous system, and improve your lifestyle, then SAUNA is your CHOICE, not Steam!

It's simple, saunas are custom made units which are available in any size or shape. Saunas can be placed anywhere; upstairs, downstairs, inside or outside, you decide.

If you can fit it, the BEST and MOST POPULAR size for a sauna is 7x7 or 8x8 without question!! This provides for adequate area for several family members and friends to lay down, plus it provides for the BEST social environment when the whole family is in the sauna along with friends!!

Think about how you will use the sauna, sitting upright or laying down. Are you tall or short! Saunas are not sized by the number of people. Remember, YOU ARE WEARING NOTHING, so it all depends on how friendly you are!

The most elegant and convenient way to set-up a Sauna is in a master bedroom suite with all the amenities of the master bath and bedroom immediately available. Another great place is to have a home fitness center with the sauna and a shower incorporated directly. Taking a sauna immediately before working out is an excellent way to loosen muscles. Most professional football and hockey teams have saunas in their locker rooms specifically to help limber muscles and reduce injuries.

The key to an EFFECTIVE, High Quality Sauna are ROCKS, ROCKS, ROCKS and more of them! The more Kilograms of rocks you have the better the Sauna Experience will be! It is not important in a Sauna to see how fast the air in the room is heated, the correct solution is to see how much heat can be absorbed into the rocks!

A minimum of 30 Kilogram of ROCKS or 65 LBS is required for a good Sauna!!

Many studies have been conducted in Finland, and the correct balance of temperature and humidity occurs when the Sauna room maintains about 165 to 170 degrees Farenheit with a 30 to 40% relative humidity. This maximizes your bodies ability to sweat effectively. Too much heat reduces humidity, too little becomes uncomfortable!

INFRA-RED or "Advanced Toaster Technology":

The standard of INFO-MERCIALS! This is NOT A SAUNA! Infra-red or radiant heat cabins provide NO HEALTH BENEFITS WHATSOEVER, regardless of the claims made! This is nothing more than a radiant baseboard heater in a wooden box!

You CANNOT ACHIEVE sauna results with an average air temperature of only 125 degrees F! There are no proven health studies or supporting information to justify the claims regarding the effectiveness of radiant heat, because radiant heat DOES NOT allow the body to sweat!! The only health studies are for real SAUNAS, and most radiant units claim SAUNA health benefits, but are actually providing false or misleading information.

UL, Underwriters Laboratory, as well as most European countries have legally defined a Sauna to mean: "A unique wooden steambath with a MINIMUM temperature of 71 degrees Celcius or 160 degrees Farenheit measured 24 inches from the ceiling." Infrared or radiant heat type cabins are NOT considered saunas under any definition. And we know from customers who purchased them elsewhere of the poor results and dissatisfaction! Funny how they always emphasize the stereo system!

10% ROCK and METAL TRAYS:

This is the least expensive and definitely the lowest quality sauna heater. A small pile of rocks, usually 5 to 10 kg or up to 25 LBS, are placed on a metal tray or mesh screen sitting above the heating elements.

NO DIRECT CONTACT is made between the elements and the rocks. Since there is no contact with the rocks, poor heat retention makes this heater three (3) times more expensive to operate and the heat up time is relatively slow.

The quality of heat and steam is incredibly uncomfortable, even harsh, since the water literally vaporizes and boils in the metal tray or ends up on the floor. We DO NOT sell or offer these types of heaters.

50% ROCK CAPACITY with AIR CHAMBERS:

This heater is characterized by a smaller quantity of rocks, usually only 12 kg to 16 kg or 25 to 35 LBS, in a chamber flanked by large air chambers on various sides.

The philosophy is half the rocks contact the elements and the other half heat the air, this presumes to allow faster heating. Unfortunately, this concept is not necessarily faster!

Heating air creates a "TOASTER SMELL" while heat retention and steam generation are limited due to the reduced quantity of rocks. Even worse is pouring water directly on heater elements causing a harsh, uncomfortable steam and damage to the heater elements from temperature shock!

100% ROCK CAPACITY: Minimum 30 Kilograms or at least 65 LBS!!

The original Finnish Sauna heater developed over 100 years ago is still the benchmark for High Quality European heater production.

Maximum capacity of rocks provides superior and long lasting heat retention. A 100% rock capacity heater has rocks totally from top to bottom and from side to side. This large quantity of evenly heated rocks, at least 30 kilograms and up to 110 kilograms, or 65 to 240 LBS provides a soft, gentle and extremely comfortable steam. The Sauna Experience is remarkable if the rocks have been pre-heated to high temperatures which makes Sauna usage long lasting and enjoyable!!

Many manufacturers providing low-quality or inefficient heaters will always attempt to have you UPSIZE the heater, i.e., for faster or more heat. This is incorrect, if you have a 100% rock capacity heater this is not necessary since the heater and rocks maximizes heat retention. Remember, the answer is ROCKS, ROCKS, ROCKS and more ROCKS!!! The measured capacity of rock weight is more important than the KW rating of the heater...

These units are definitely the least expensive to operate due to high heat transfer and efficiency!

When shopping for a high quality Sauna always select a 100% capacity heater and SPECIFY a minimum Rock Capacity of at least 30 KILOGRAMS or 65 LBS of Rocks!!

Saunatonttu ("Sauna Elf")

The latest and most spectacular innovation from Finland is the "Saunatonttu" a HIGH EFFICIENCY "INSTANT" heater. What is so unbeliveable about this heater?

First, there is hardly any preheat time, the heater is always ready with lots and lots of hot rocks. Just open the cover lid and in minutes the sauna room is ready to use, no preheat, no timer, no scheduling, just use the sauna whenever you want!
